• About me

    Tracy Jones Music

I learnt classical piano through to ATCL level, I then attended Nelson School of Music's Contemporary course ,  and  in later years technical learnings at Otago University were necessary.  This took me on a journey - creating music  to film.

My inate empathy and perceptive 'eye' allows me to capture the essence of my subject. I have had  success applying this to promote business, artists exhibitions and document interesting events .

  • My work

In this increasingly cold, online world I bring the human elements of feeling and emotion back to my projects. Often it is that personal touch, attention to detail and building relationships with clients/artists that is also important .

I very much enjoy creating short films for artists, poets, dancers and historical subjects.

  • 'Tracy produced a beautiful film to record my art journey and making processes while I was on residency at the Caselberg Trust. I'd struggled to articulate quite what I wanted, and was shy of being filmed - but still she came up with a coherent, poetic piece that gave a real flavour of my time there without being too literal. I was delighted and amazed when I saw the finished film. She was a pleasure to work with.' Becky Cameron.

"As a group we couldn't have been happier with the quality of the short film Tracy put together for us.  She definitely captured all that our group learnt, felt and gave us a beautiful memory of our time with our course - Kawai Raupapa . At all times Tracy was unobtrusive when filming, capturing footage that some of us were unaware of and edited the footage so well it flowed when watching" -Tara Namana.

“Working with Tracy was easeful. I felt comfortable with her filming me” ~ Ojeya Cruz Banks (Lecturer & Choreographer)

"Tracy creates powerful, sensitive work. Her  musical -composing skills are a huge advantage , complimenting her work" - Nadene Milne Gallery -
